Responsible for the pre-verification of insurance for patients being admitted into the hospital for care. Ensures insurance coverage by telephone, resolves any issues with coverage and escalates complicated issues to a supervisor or manager. Interviews patients and completes all paperwork necessary to ensure the admitting process is efficient and all hospital and regulatory policies are in compliance. Relies on experience and judgment to plan and accomplish goals. Performs a variety of tasks. A certain degree of creativity and latitude is expected. Typically reports to a supervisor or manager.
Qualifications:
Education:
Must possess a high school diploma or equivalent.
Must possess basic Medical Terminology.
High regard for detail.
Experience:
Desirable characteristics include two years of experience in a hospital or medically related environment.
Must be able to follow directions and to perform work according to department standards when no directions are given.
Must be emotionally mature and able to function effectively under stress.
Job: Business OfficeEstimated Salary: $20 to $28 per hour based on qualifications.
